Reduce REUSE Recycle with Whimsie Doodles!

Happy Earth Day! This week's Whimsie Wednesday Challenge (#28) at Whimsie Doodles' PCP fan page is celebrating this special day.Thanh is the hostess and she has challenged us to create a project to promote in saving the Earth. What does Earth Day mean to you? How are you reducing your ecological foot print?

Things you could do are:
  • use a recycled item on your project from around your house
  • have a reduce, reuse, recycle message
  • incorporate a save Earth message (using the WD stamp - see below)
  • paint or stamp with household objects
  • make a project with only scraps and as many scraps as you can using earthy stuff
  • use earthy colors
  • incorporate all of the above into one!

For my project I chose to REUSE a small canvas bag I had gotten a gift in - I knew it would come in handy some day. To get the Swing Leah image onto the bag, I first printed her out on a laserjet t-shirt transfer. A few minutes with the iron and she was ready to color.

To color Leah I used my COPIC markers. The ribbon and brown button were adhered to the bag using No Sew fabric glue, and the top button was adhered with E6000. This little bag should be sturdy enough for my 4 year old to carry her favorite snacks when we go visit the park. Since her favorite playground activity is swinging, Swing Leah was the perfect Whimsie Doodles image to use for her bag.
At Whimsie Doodles, we believe in reducing our ecological footprint hence why most of our images are digi! To help spread the message, we're going to be giving away our Save Earth digi for a limited time. Please click HERE for your download.
We look forward to seeing what you make. If you upload your creation to any online galleries, be sure to use the keywords whimsiedoodles and WWC28.

And now a SPECIAL OFFER for fans and readers of my blog: Use the coupon code below (ALICIA10), the next time you shop at the Whimsie Doodles Online Store and receive 10% OFF your order!
