Sheer Cloud Card - 2 Sketches 4 You and Whimsie Doodles

When I saw the latest sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You - Kazan's Sketch 55 - I thought it would be a great sketch for a 'scenery card'. Whimsie Doodles' Every Other Day rubber stamp set is perfect for creating said scene.

I started off by creating a top-fold frosted card base using a ShortCuts Full Frosted Sheet. This material gives a cloudy appearance for the sky, and even when the card is closed, you are able to see the sky blue paper that I adhered to the inside of the card.

I paper-pieced the cupcake-topped hot air balloon, but before I did that I stamped the entire image using StazOn onto the card front. That allowed me to avoid cutting out the strings on the balloon by hand. The white clouds were also stamped using StazOn, but these are on the inside of the front of the card. The glitter was added to the top by placing a Mini Glue Dot in the stamped circle, then applying the glitter. Much easier than waiting for glue to dry.

To tie the sentiment into the image, I decided to use some sparkly red embossing powder to match the cherry on the cupcake. I really need to pull out my embossing powders more often; I rarely use them, but love the way they look. The rolling hill was created by cutting a strip of green paper using my Creative Memories Wavy Cutter. This personal trimmer has two different sizes of waves and is one of my favorite tools. (ETA: I tried to find a link on the CM website, but it looks like they may not sell this any longer...)
