Tweet Valentine - Whimsie Doodles

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! Not only am I debuting my new 'blog look' (it is January and it seems like that is the month for me to remodel my blog) and photo watermark, but I have another card to share using the new Valen-tinies digi set from Whimsie Doodles!

I stepped a bit out of my comfort zone for this card by using patterned papers, from multiple companies, on one card. Normally I am okay with combining patterns from the same line, but have been nervous to try to match up others. This will probably be something to try again in the future, it was fun to get to flip through some of my neglected paper pads to try to match colors.

Both the image and sentiment were printed onto white cardstock. Because the papers and rest of the card are a little distressed/aged, I went ahead and sponged some light tan ink onto the sentiment strip. After coloring the cute little birdie, I hand-cut him out and placed him onto the die-cut ledger patterned paper. I drew in his missing legs and stitched the string to dangle the heart from.

You may notice the fun text strip across the bottom of the image mat. Lately many card artists have been using this technique and it always catches my attention. When I found my forgotten StudioG alphabet strip stamps, I had to give it a try. Those stamps may become worn out now.

For some final touches… I used my sewing machine to stitch on the sentiment and hold down the edges of the ribbon. Glitter was added to the hanging heart and most of the pieces were sponged with light tan ink.
