And You Thought I Would Forget - Whimsie Doodles


The latest challenge on the Birthday Sundaes blog is to create a Spring birthday card. I thought Balloon Leah and some Spring-y papers would be perfect for this challenge.

To start my card I created the diamond-quilted background, after seeing this technique in a recent issue of CARDS, using up some of my paper scraps. After coloring and cutting out Leah, I adhered her with foam dots over the sentiment banner, which used one of the sentiments from Have Cake.

This card came together pretty quickly and now the next time I am late sending a birthday card (which I do too often), I will have one handy.

Just the details… (1) Stamped sentiment onto coordinating cardstock, then hand cut the end for a sentiment banner, (2) used black string for the balloon to replace a part of the image that removed when cutting by hand, (3) inked each of the 1.5" squares with white ink (hard to see), then adhered to a scrap piece of cardstock.
