Wreck This Journal - Installment #3

ime for another intallment of Wreck This Journal. If you missed the story behind the book, you can start by reading this post.

I sent a copy of this book to my mom, Gloria, and she is posting her progress and doing a great job of doing it daily. I hope you will drop by her WTJ Posts to see her progress and leave some 'love'.  :)

Now onto today's page...

Today's instructions read "poke holes in this page using a pencil".

Look at the beautiful, mint-condition, page above. Can you believe I did this to it?!?!

Since I didn't have a pencil handy, I edited the instructions and used a regular old ballpoint pen. It got the job done.. dontcha think?

Until tomorrow...

Wreck This Journal - Installment #2

Time for another intallment of Wreck This Journal.

Today's instructions read "trace your hand". As I prepared to deface this page I had two thoughts.. wow my hand looks big and WOW, I could really use some lotion. ;)

I decided to not let those thoughts get in the way and trace my hand, I did...

I stopped just short of turning each finger into a person or making my whole hand look like a turkey.  :)

Until tomorrow...

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps - Week 1 - Card 2

As I mentioned yesterday, I am back with another creation using the very versatile Pick of the Harvest Digital Stamp Set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

I decided to try out the 'spotlight' technique for this sample. I have always wanted to try it and thought this image would be perfect. After I colored a small area of the image I punched it out and matted it.

The main, un-colored, image was cut out using a Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities die and then it was matted with a Nestabilities scalloped oval. The focal point, as well as the sheer ribbon and felt apple embellishment was placed onto the front of the clear card blank.

To hide the personal message in the card, I created a smaller card and adhered it to the inside. The sentiment 'You're the pick of the harvest!' can still be seen from the front. I punched it out with the rounded tab punch and it helps to open the inner card.

I will be back next week with even more creations using Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!!

Don't Forget: There is still time to get some clear card blanks from ShortCuts and don't forget about our clearance sale that is going on - 25% off all products - while supplies last...

Sweet N Sassy Stamps - Week 1 - Card 1

I am so excited to be sharing my first creation as one of the November Guest Artists on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamp blog!!!!

If you came here via my post on the SNSS blog- welcome! I hope you will enjoy the additional details and information I am giving here on my post.

If you haven't been over to the Sweet 'n Sassy blog yet, I hope you will stop by to see this creation, and the ones by Laura Williams (the other November Guest Artist) posted earlier in the week.

I chose Sweet 'n Sassy Stamp's Pick of the Harvest Digital Stamp Set for this card because the little girl reminds me a bit of my own daughter. She is on the petite side, so most things are a 'get on your tippy toes' reach away; just like the apples are for the girl in this image.

This digital stamp set comes with three great sentiments, so for this card I hand-cut the "Happy Fall" sentiment and matted it with coordinating patterned paper. For extra depth I used foam tape to adhere the sentiment to the card.

To get the fun shape that the main image is on, I cut only one edge of the image block using a Spellbinders die. The green scalloped strip was hand-stitched onto the card, after I used my piercing guide to pre-punch the holes.

I repeated the scalloped edge on the right edge of the front. Since you could then see the inside of the card, I added a small strip of green coordinating paper on the inside.

The felt apple embellishment was ran through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder and then some glitter was added. For even more glitter 'bling' I colored over the apples in the tree with my glitter pen, as well.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card that uses this same digital stamp set.
